Continuing our weekly conversations . . .
-
The deal: Each Thursday, we announce a question of the week. We seek to ask questions that spark interesting conversations, whether it simply be about books, traditions, spiritual disciplines, more theological matters, or anything related to life in general. You can join in our conversations two ways:
-
1. Leave a comment with your thoughts!
-
2. Or, if you prefer, post an answer on your own blog and leave us a link to your post so we can comment and add to the conversation. If you post on your own blog, you are welcome to use the picture above as long as you link back to us somewhere in your post.

  3. Most of the music I like is contemporary--aka, "the softer stuff". I love music by Aaron Shust, Chris August, Merchant Band, Foolish Things, Hillson, Joy Williams, Phil Wickham, Sanctus Real, Tenth Avenue North, Sovereign Grace, Starfield, Vicky Beeching, and Warren Barfield. I also adore Loreena McKennitt's music. She isn't a Christian artist, but her music has a beautiful Celtic feel to it; her best song is The Highwayman!

  5. I'm currently listening to a lot of Shawn McDonald - mellow and relaxing sound with rich depth and complexity. His lyrics are full of beauty and truth, with a depth to match his sound. Some common themes he writes about are: faith, growth, our need for Christ, and God's goodness and faithfulness. On his Ripen album, the songs Reason, Pour Out and Home are some of my favourites. I also love the song Beautiful from his Simply Nothing album.

  6. I love Firefight's 'you decide'. It helped me get through tuff times and it still motivates me to never give in to what may seem as the easier way to go. Natalie Grant's 'Held' helped alot too. But as for artists I like Krystal Meyers, Group 1 Crew, Tobymac, Hawk Nelson, Stellar Kart, and a whole lot more

  7. I am adoring all of the songs recommended in the last post- thank you so much! I now know which albums to search for, I'm so excited.
As for what I've been listening to all this time (In addition to Natalie Grant and Casting Crowns), I got ahold of a CD of hymns played in piano about a year go. I got it for only a dollar, but its worth a million to me! It turns afternoons and twilights- and any time, really, into something lovely. It's got plenty of favorites like How Great Thou Art and A Mighty Fortress, all in gorgeous streaming piano. It was one of those God-things, where I happened to find it at just the right time.
You can copy and paste this into your browser in order to see it:

I'm also in love with Mairead Nesbitt's version of 'There is No Night There' in violin.

Everyone above- thank you for your music recommendations as well, I can't wait to look into them.

  8. In addition to some of the other music already mentioned, I also love Shane & Shane, Bethany Dillon, Barlow Girl, and Jeremy Camp.

Owl City has such upbeat and clean songs, including a few which hint at the artist's Christian faith ("Meteor Shower" and "Tidal Wave" for sure).
