Farewell

For over 11 years, Bloom! has existed to spur you on in your journey towards Biblical womanhood. What started as a big dream in the hearts of three teen girls, turned into an international print magazine and then later turned into a thriving blog. Our heart has been to go beyond the fluff and dig deep into God’s Word and into how to practically apply that to our daily lives. If any good has come out of Bloom!, we know it is because God is the one who waters the seeds we plant (1 Cor. 3:7).

This journey of magazine and blog has spanned for over a decade and what a thrilling and beautiful one it has been. God has deepened and widened our worldview. He has given us a deeper understanding of His ways. He’s brought me (Joanna) through some really hard times and pushed me to write despite the pain. He’s shown me that although I am nowhere near perfect, He can still use me anyway.

One thing He’s been teaching me recently is that sometimes, some chapters must come to an end. Don’t get me wrong. Bloom!’s website and articles will continue to be here in the online world, just a click away for you when you might need a bit of sunshine or encouragement. Our passion to know Jesus and make Him known hasn’t changed. However, our season in life has. Along with these many changes, comes more responsibility and this forces us to choose what we spend our time on.

For some of us – Megan and Krista – changes have included falling in love, getting married and moving to a new place. For others – Victoria and Emily – changes like becoming a senior as they continue to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree and work have consumed time and energy.

Then there’s myself (Joanna) as I have continued to follow Jesus where He calls. For the last 5 years, that has been sharing His love on the island of Taiwan. I’m pursuing a degree in social work and spend a lot of my time with juvenile delinquent boys, stumbling over the Chinese language and hugging orphan kiddos. My life is nowhere near what I imagined it as a young girl. Yet, I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Along with this calling comes the need to spend more time doing other things and with that, we come to the end of this chapter of Bloom!. It’s been a good 11+ years. We have grown and matured and come to know Jesus in a deeper and more beautiful way. We hope you have too! May He continue to guide you in your journey. He’s good and faithful and true. We pray you will know that now and always.
